The beginning of this celebration dates back to a meeting of friends held to commemorate Arbor Day on June 20, 1958 , in Puerto Pinasco , Paraguay . On that occasion he played lecture to Dr. Artemio Bracho (then director of the hospital’s Institute of Social Welfare in Puerto Pinasco), who proposed the establishment of a day to celebrate the friendship between humans. The idea would have thought because they had dates to celebrate the father, the mother and the tree, but not as beautiful as friendship feeling.
That day is considered as the foundation of international civil organization called Global crusade of friendship , two whose motto is “For a better and more humane world.” It was created by Dr. Bracho, with Victor A. Rolon, Cap. Carlos Riva, Horacio Maymi, Don Orlando Troncoso and Kurt Singer. Following this initiative, 21 to 27 July 1958 was held the first week of friendship, in the Paraguayan Chaco . After numerous efforts, the Paraguayan government through the Ministry of Education and Culture established a date for the recall (Resolution No. 242 of 1964). This then spread to other countries in Latin America and other regions also, although the day is not the same everywhere.
